Under New Management!

On 1st February 2025 the CIC takes over as the new landlord of 24 Swan Street

On 5th September 2023, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council agreed to offer the Kingsclere PAYC CIC a 25 year lease, with the option to purchase during this time. This was a huge step forward in our campaign, and enormous thanks to the local councillors who have lobbied hard on our behalf, notably Cllr Kerry Morrow. The risk of losing 24 Swan Street is no longer a threat, and we can now take action and start putting our plans into place.

With the security of a long-term lease, we can apply for grants, including the National Lottery, and Greenham Trust.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council still do not have a Community Asset Transfer (CAT) policy in place. They have confirmed they are considering developing a CAT policy in the future as part of their ongoing community asset management.

The Pledge 500 Club

We were overwhelmed with the number of Swan Street Saviours who in 2023 pledged their support, the total reached an amazing £14,500.

We still hope to eventually bring the site into community ownership, however, once the 25 year lease was proposed, we decided not to claim the pledges at this time. The funds raised from our past events (see below) have so far contributed towards legal fees and preparation to take over as landlord, and will be used directly for repairs and future improvements to the site.

Thank you to all who joined The Pledge 500 Club and became a Swan Street Saviour
