The Future of 24 Swan Street

Ground Floor

Current long term tenants are:

  • An established dance school JLD School of Dance

  • A thriving sixth form and foundation vocational training centre, Kingsclere Performing Arts College (working in partnership with Newbury College)

First Floor

With so much potential to maximise the entire building our plans include ideas to bring new services on site and develop the suites to including:

  • Youth Centre Hub

  • Activity room for crafts, cooking and creativity

  • Professional grade recording studio for community use

  • Community classroom with internet access

  • Well being room for counselling services

  • Second hand school uniform shop/exchange

  • Community cafe with late night food delivery service / takeaway, to include community larder / food bank

  • Lift for improved access to the first floor

Car Park

Once the CIC takes over running of 24 Swan Street, car parking charges will be introduced. The PAYC will be playing its part in protecting the Conservation Area and supporting a high quality living experience by managing the community car park. Resident permits will be available to purchase for those households most in need of the parking facility, and a reasonable charge for public use will help maintain the facility. The PAYC will apply for a grant to install electric car charging points for community use, a much needed amenity in a good central village location.

Please remember, the alternative to the CIC managing the site, was to loose parking in Swan Street to a private residential development.

Recording Studio

A new recording studio for mixing live music, podcasting, demos and much more.

Future artists, podcasters and radio presenters a like will be able benefit from a place to develop future musical talent in Kingsclere.

The Classroom

Young People in the village will benefit from access to the quiet study space that the “The Classroom” will provide. If you need a quiet space with great WIFI outside of the home for GCSE or A-Level revision, or just for catching up on your homework, this could be the place for you.

Sustainable

Solar Roof Panels

With a large roof area at 24 Swan Street, it just makes sense to work towards reducing the carbon footprint where possible. Funding will be sought to ascertain the viability of installing solar roof panels on the Grade II listed roof.

24 Swan Street has the potential to become the beating heart of the community for the young people of Kingsclere
